Jonathan Berry (born in England) established a water powered sawmill, which lead to a settlement being developed near the mills. This exploit made Jonathan Berry the namesake for Jonathan Creek, and later Berry Mills.

Dundas
Dundas was erected in 1827 from the Wellington Parish. It is speculated that the name Dundas either came from Ann Dundas, wife of Sir Howard Douglas who was the lieutenant-governor of
New-Brunswick from 1823-1832, or for Robert Saunders Dundas, 2nd Viscount of Melville and the first Lord of Admiralty.
For governance purposes it is divided between the towns of Champdoré and Grand-Bouctouche and the rural communities of Beausoleil and Maple Hills.
Prior to the 2023 governance reform, the parish was divided between the village of Saint-Antoine, the rural community of Cocagne and the local service districts of Grande-Digue, Grand Saint-Antoine, Shediac Bridge-Shediac River, the parish of Dundas, and (through its Saint-Grégoire special service area) the parish of Wellington. Cocagne, Grande-Digue, and Shediac Bridge-Shediac River, and most of the Dundas Parish LSD are now part of Beausoleil, Saint-Antoine and Grand Saint-Antoine part of Champdoré, while the community of Dundas in the western end of the parish is part of Maple Hills.
The parish was informally referred to as Notre-Dame after one its communities.

Gallagher Ridge
Through the efforts of the Immigration and Land Settlement Society, large tracts of land were purchased in rural locations for the purpose of establishing Irish settlements. It was hoped that many of the City’s (Saint John, NB) Irish poor would settle in these newly created communities and afford improved circumstances as a result. This is how Canaan - Gallagher Ridge came to be. Gallagher Ridge was named after Bishop John Sweeny, who helped to organize the resettlement opportunities.
